How to create an Event listing

How do listing periods work?

28 Days plan: one-time payment, visible for 28 days then expires. Monthly: auto-renews each month. Yearly: auto-renews annually. You can unpublish anytime and cancel subscriptions anytime. Expiry notifications sent at 7, 3, and 1 day remaining.

Draft vs Published listings

Draft: saved but not visible, no payment required, edit anytime. Published: visible to public after choosing a payment plan. Unpublished: was published but hidden (billing continues). Expired: listing period ended. You can only have 1 draft per listing type.

Contact Organiser/Business option (no payment processing needed)

Accepted Answer

Turn OFF both Portal Sales and External Link toggles. A "Contact Organiser" or "Contact Business" button appears on your listing. Customers message you directly via email. No Stripe Connect, website, or payment processing needed. Perfect for FREE events or email/phone bookings.

Why is Stripe Connect required?

Stripe Connect enables secure payments: customers pay directly to your Stripe account, we never hold your money (true 0% commission), industry-standard security and fraud protection. Only needed for Portal Sales — external links don't require Stripe.

How to connect your Stripe account

Accepted Answer

Go to Provider Dashboard, find "Payment Options", click "Connect with Stripe", complete Stripe's secure onboarding (create account or log in, verify business details), then return to Islington Marketplace. Takes under 5 minutes. You must have at least 1 paid listing first.

Understanding 0% commission

Accepted Answer

You keep 100% of all ticket sales, deal purchases, and revenue. Choose your plan (£9.95/28 days, £9.95/month, or £95/year). No hidden fees or transaction cuts from us. Stripe charges standard processing fees (~1.5-2.9%) directly to you.

When do I receive payments?

Accepted Answer

Payments go directly to your connected Stripe account. Stripe typically transfers to your bank within 2-7 business days. First payout may take longer due to verification. Set your payout schedule in Stripe settings.

What if I only want external links?

Accepted Answer

You don't need Stripe Connect. Add your own website or booking link to listings. Customers click through to your site to purchase. Same pricing plans apply.

Publishing and unpublishing listings

Accepted Answer

Publish: choose a payment plan to make draft visible. Unpublish: hide published listing from public. Re-publish: show unpublished listing again at no extra cost. Note: unpublishing doesn't stop billing or provide refunds.

Editing existing listings

Go to your management page, find your listing, click "Edit", update any details, and click "Save Changes". Changes appear immediately. Note: event capacity cannot be reduced below tickets already sold.

What happens when my listing expires?

Listing automatically becomes invisible to public, you receive an email notification, listing data is preserved, and you can renew with any payment plan when ready. Monthly and yearly subscriptions auto-renew.

How to renew an expired listing

Go to your listing management page, find the expired listing, choose your preferred payment plan, complete payment, and the listing becomes active again.

Portal sales vs external links

Portal Sales (requires Stripe Connect): customers buy directly on Islington Marketplace, 0% commission, automated emails and inventory tracking. External Links: customers directed to your website. Contact option: customers send email inquiries, no payment processing needed.

Only expired or draft listings can be deleted. Active listings must expire first. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Consider unpublishing instead if you might need the listing later.
