Creative and spontaneous, our Tap Dance Course allows you to improvise - but first you’ll need to master the basics.
A fusion of African American art with Irish influence, Tap Dance is a great way to keep active and express yourself. This Beginners course is a step-by-step guide to the essential sounds, moves and rhythms of tap dance.
Starting off by learning the sounds you can make, and their names, you will build up to simple steps – both on the spot and traveling. You will also learn about rhythm and how to develop the subtle light and shade needed for your introduction to Tap Dance.
Our Tap Dance Beginners Course is perfect if you’re new to the Tap Dancing world and want to get involved.You'll receive friendly feedback throughout the Tap Dancing Course.
Tap Dance Classes - Beginners Content:
- Lessons guided by a Professional Dancer and expert Tap Dance Tutor
- Explore simple routines and fundamental footwork combinations
- Understand posture and spacial awareness
- Demonstrate how to isolate parts of the body - in order to define a movement
- Develop basic coordination of your feet, arms and head
- Perform a selection of short basic choreography from Musical Theatre and a beginner's Rhythm Tap Dance

What You Will Learn
Learn basic tap style drills and footwork; focusing on sounds, rhythms, mobile and traveling steps, as well as light and shade techniques.
